We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to be part of the company’s leadership team, contribute to the overall aims of the company through the efficient and compliant financial management of financial and business matters.
What you’ll be doing:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in both manual and electronic record systems, and support compliance through account preparation and auditing.
Oversee month-end reporting activities, ensuring accurate KPI reporting, and assist in monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Manage payroll activities, including timesheets and agency records, ensuring completion by deadlines, and handle credit control and debt management.
Monitor fixed asset expenditures, complete monthly financials, and regularly review and update financial policies in agreement with the F&B Manager.

The ideal candidate will have:
Professional qualifications from a recognised accountancy body such as CIMA, ACCA or AAT
Experienced user of accounting software (specifically Xero) and competent with banking, invoicing, purchase ledger, reconciliations, journals etc
Significant experience at a senior level to demonstrate competence in planning, delivering and reviewing annual budget cycles for a multi-site operation
Ability to investigate and identify trend, provide commentary and recommendations to monthly management accounts

The ideal candidate will have:
Apprenticeship trained inclusive of City & Guilds HGV parts 1,2,3 qualification or equivalent.
An LGV Class C / HGV Class 2 licence is desirable, but not essential.
Ability to work independently both safely and competently in a physically demanding role.
Proven experience of maintaining commercial vehicles to a high standard inclusive of servicing, repair and fault diagnosis.
Excellent understanding of vehicle and body electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, particularly in the waste management sector.

You will be a part of a 2/3-person team to carry out a range of services including kerbing, hot & cold lay patching, erecting & dismantling fencing and signage. As part of our development of our Managers and Supervisors, we offer course and qualification opportunities for Levels 3, 4 and 5 through the Institute of Leadership & Management.
This training equips our team members with vital leadership tools and skills to use in their day to day roles at North Somerset Environment as well as preparing them for future progression in their careers as future business leaders.

At present we have a couple of Apprentice Technicians learning their trade and gaining qualifications through our in house Workshop, providing them vital on the job training and experience alongside experienced technicians.
Furthermore, we are committed to supporting our workforce in their career aspirations with several of our Supervisors and Managers having worked through our ranks from our collections workforce, gaining valuable industry specific knowledge and experience on their journey.
Driver Training Academy
Our Driver Training Academy places our commitment to employee development at the very core of our business.
As well as offering driver training courses to external customers, we encourage our existing non-driving workforce to enter through our sponsorship schemes through our academy to equip them with driving skills and licences for a future driving career with us.
